Here is how we proceed with the developments of
EagleUsb driver which is GPL, with the implications.
First
Who we are (interwiki) and
all eagle-usb websites (interwiki) related to the driver.
The modem supported are listed at
Faq:ModemSupport (interwiki)
The functionalities implemented are available in
DocumentationFonctionnalitesUs
The history of being more conformant to GPL (adding headers) thanks to Sagem is stored for reference at
InfoLicence (french, sorry, as it was obtained thanks to Sagem)
Our objectives are :
- make the modems work for the end user, the more simply as possible as we keep in mind that internet access is the first step for the newbie to get information to help him use his/her GNU/Linux distribution
- short term objective is to make it work for Mandrakelinux 10.1 and other distributions that may have a different requirements levels
- long term objective is to promote free use of our work, which is easier with GPL licence, documentation, source code
- collaborate with Analog Digital, Inc. and Sagem (and anyone willing to) on a win/win basis
- our community can contribute to explain the "libre"-way of working and applying it, by providing any necessary information which is freely available
- find a common agreement of work with firms like Analog Digital, Inc. and Sagem
Some background about GPL is identified in
