DeveloppementGPL
This page has been created in order to list references to the opinions about GPL for developments, particularly driver development (which may be useful for any product).
You may quote what is relevant for our current objective : obtain what is possible for
RequirementsEagleUsbGPL
This work is begun the 8th October 2004 and may be updated later on.
The opinions expressed are mostly related to the case of eagle-usb driver for linux but may apply or be useful for any other kind of project that want to choose the way of going GPL.
Of course all this documentation is GFDL as stated in
PagePrincipale of this website ;-)
The basics
As an introduction, here are the reference documents.
- http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/ the basics, available in french as well
- Linus answers on firmware (or on lkml) this is kernel-oriented
- For the opposite view, a message on lkmk [May 2003]
- the position of a debian releaser [April 2004]
- FAQ for hardware and electronic components manufacturers [en] and in french
- another example from debian-legal list answered by Humberto Massa [March 2004]

What to Do
Here are links that are used in
HowToGPL to identify what is to be done on the package given and source code.
Matter of factly
This lists which points are more interesting to our main objective : work freely.
- obtaining the most as possible in GPL (and GFDL), it really simplify anyquestion
- having the source would be a plus, currently, I'm not really that sure that it's compulsory, but I fear that not having it is the beginning of (possibly endless) objections sooner or later... (BenoitAudouard)
